AI voice assistants still mess up basic commands at family dinners

We tried using a smart speaker to settle a debate about movie trivia last night. It gave us completely wrong answers three times in a row. My uncle started yelling at the device like it was a person. This stuff is supposed to be innovative, but it can't handle simple questions. I'm starting to think these AI gadgets are just overhyped toys.

Those trivia questions are surprisingly tough for voice AI. They're pulling from specific databases that might not have updated movie credits or obscure facts. The systems are better at weather or setting timers than settling bar bets about who played the minor villain in a 90s film.

Yeah, @nancy_nguyen is spot on about the database limits. Voice AI really trips up on old movie details, like who voiced the tiny part in a cartoon from 1985. It's because their facts come from fixed lists that don't get the small updates fans do. So they can handle a simple math problem but fail on which actor had a blink and you miss it role. That gap makes them feel dumb for trivia night but smart for everyday stuff.
