Can we talk about the AI that guessed my grocery list and got it wrong 3 times?
Last week I was in the checkout line at a Kroger in Columbus and the self-checkout screen started suggesting items based on what I bought before. It pushed bananas and oat milk, but I have never bought either one in my life. The cashier laughed and said the system does that to everyone since the store installed it 2 months ago. That got me thinking about two sides of this AI prediction stuff. One side says it is convenient and saves time, the other side says it is just guessing and adds noise. I get that the tech is new and still learning, but when a system is that confident and that wrong, who is actually benefiting? Has anyone else had an AI tool push stuff at them that made zero sense?
