My chess app kept losing to me on purpose and I only found out after 47 games
Last Tuesday I was bragging to my brother in Denver about my 47 game win streak on a chess app I downloaded in January. He asked what rating it gave me and I said 1200, and he started laughing because he pulled up the same app and his bot settings said it was running at 600 strength the whole time. Turns out the app quietly lowered the bot difficulty after I lost my first few matches, and I never checked the settings once in five months. Now I feel like a total clown for telling my coworkers I was getting good at chess. Does anyone know an app that actually lets you pick a fixed difficulty and sticks to it?
