A lead inspector's comment on my safety wire direction threw me for a loop

He pulled me aside after a check at KPDX and said my lockwire was pretty but the twist direction on the left side made no sense to him... turns out I'd been running it backwards on those fuel pump fittings for 12 years because my first mentor taught me that way. Has anyone else had a habit like that, one little comment that made you rework something you thought was done right all along?
