Warning: my 30 second dark frame trick fixed my noisy Milky Way shots, and I wish I knew sooner
I was shooting the Milky Way over Lake Tahoe two Saturdays ago and every stack came out grainy even though I took 60 light frames at ISO 3200. On a hunch I capped the lens and shot 30 dark frames at the same settings, then dropped them into DeepSkyStacker, and the noise just melted away. Is anyone else skipping darks, or am I the only one who waited way too long to try this?
