Heat gun left weird marks on my truck's hood, what did I do wrong?

I was trying to strip old paint from my pickup's hood with a heat gun. I kept it moving but now there are cloudy spots in the metal. Did I get it too hot or is there a better way to do this? What should I use to fix it?

Warped my own truck's hood doing the exact same thing last summer. Left the heat gun in one spot like ten seconds too long and the metal got that same cloudy look. Had to sand the whole thing down past the discoloration and repaint. Try some wet sanding with 800 grit to see if it comes out.

Actually that cloudiness is usually in the clear coat, not the paint itself. Might not need to go as far as @casey787 did.
