Showerthought: I spent 2 years tracing wires with a multimeter before I finally learned to read a wiring diagram first
When I started out at a regional shop in Wichita, my go to move for any squawk was to grab the Fluke and start poking pins one by one. I once burned 4 hours chasing an intermittent trim fault that way. Now I pull the diagram first, every single time, and mark the run with a highlighter before I even touch the panel. Last week a stab trim issue that would have eaten my whole shift took 25 minutes because I saw the splice point on paper first. The old way felt like work, but most of it was guessing. Curious if anyone else had a lead hand who forced them to change how they troubleshoot, and what finally made it click?
