Cracked garage floor slab after a light rain, watch for hidden slope issues

Last Tuesday I went out to grab a shovel and stepped right into a puddle that had pooled near the door. My garage floor has a tiny slope to it but it was all running toward the back corner, not the drain. Turned out the slab had settled over 6 years and about 2 inches of the corner dropped, water was seeping under the baseboards. I ended up renting a concrete grinder for $80 and hiring a guy to inject polyurethane foam under that section. Has anyone else dealt with a floor that looked fine but was actually funneling water somewhere bad? What did you use to check the level besides a bubble level?
