Spent 4 hours last Tuesday on a church flyer font, was it the font or me?
Short version: my church asked me to do a flyer for a rummage sale in Dayton. I had the layout done in 20 minutes. The font took 4 hours. Tried a script first, looked like a wedding invite. Tried a serif, felt like a funeral. Landed on a clean sans and felt dumb for burning an afternoon.
One side says the font sets the whole mood, so it deserves the time. Other side says a rummage sale flyer needs to be readable in 3 seconds and nothing else. I keep going back and forth.
Which camp are you in? Spend the hours getting the type right, or pick something plain and move on?
