Unpopular opinion: that 3 hour checkout form cost me $180 in lost client work
I run a small design thing out of my apartment in Austin and last Tuesday I needed to buy stock photos for a project. I found a site that looked fine until I hit the checkout. It asked for my email, then my password, then told me my password was wrong even though I just made it two minutes ago. So I reset it, which kicked me back to the start of the form and wiped out the cart. I tried three times and each round took about 20 minutes because the page kept reloading my card info wrong. I finally gave up and paid a different site $12 more just so I could get back to actual work. That whole mess killed my afternoon and I had to push a client deadline, which cost me $180 in overtime I did not bill. Why do these sites make you re enter everything after one tiny error instead of just keeping the field filled in? Has anyone else just abandoned a whole purchase because the cart reset on them?
