Sharpen on the straight razor vs the clipper-over-comb for a skin fade, I flip flop on this
I cut a guy's hair last Saturday who I've had in my chair for 2 years, and I pulled out the straight razor for his neckline like I always do. His skin fade looked way cleaner to me than the clipper-over-comb I did on him back in April. But then I had a walk-in kid 20 minutes later and that clipper-over-comb blend came out butter smooth with zero irritation. So now I'm sitting here wondering which one actually gives a better fade long term. My thinking is the razor gets it tighter but the clipper gives a softer blend guys can grow out for another week. One guy tipped me 30 dollars for the razor version, the kid gave me 5, so is that telling me anything or just coincidence? What do you all lean on when a customer asks for the cleanest fade you can do?
