TIL a 20 year vet told me my fades were 'clean but flat' and it stung enough to fix it
Six weeks back a guy who's been cutting hair since 1998 sat in my chair and gave me the most blunt feedback I've ever gotten. He ran his hand up the back of his head and said the blend was clean but flat, no texture, like I was cutting to a number instead of cutting the hair. I was annoyed for about a day, then I started leaving my detailers a little longer at the top and working the edge with the corner of a 1/2 guard instead of chasing it with clippers only. Three clients have said the finish feels softer since then, so I think he was right. Now I'm torn on whether blunt feedback from a fellow cutter is worth asking for or if it just gets in your head. Do you take pointers from vets who sit in your chair, or do you tune it all out and trust your own eye?
