Hit 500 wheel builds on Sunday and the number honestly caught me off guard
I keep a little tally in the back of my notebook every time I finish a wheel, mostly just so I know when to order more spokes. After I trued and tensioned the last one on Sunday, a 36 hole rear for a guy's touring bike, I added it up and it came to 500. What got me is that it took me 4 years to hit the first 250, and only about 14 months to do the second 250, which I guess means I finally stopped second guessing myself on tension. The weird part is the wheels that taught me the most were the ones I had to redo, especially a 3 cross I laced wrong twice back in my first year. For the folks who build a lot, do you count yours, or is that just a me thing?
