Hydraulic brake bleeding kits: cheap ones got me, now I'm torn
For 3 years I swore by the expensive pressure bleed kit, told everyone the cheap syringe method was a joke. Then my buddy in Phoenix showed me his $25 kit doing a full bleed on a Shimano setup in 10 minutes, zero mess. I tried it myself last weekend on an old SRAM brake and honestly it worked fine, but I still worry about air getting trapped in the caliper on tricky frames. Is the fancy tool actually worth 4x the price, or are we all just paying for peace of mind? Anyone else flip-flopped on this after seeing a garage mechanic crush it with basic gear?

Zero mess" is the part that gets me because nobody talks about what happens when the cheap syringe slips off the bleed port midpush. I had brake fluid all over my garage wall, my favorite jersey, and somehow my dog. The expensive kit at least has those threads that lock on so you can swear at it without making a bigger puddle.
