I thought spoke tension by ear was just old mechanic bragging, but a guy in Tucson proved me wrong
I used to roll my eyes when the old timers talked about tuning wheels by plucking spokes, figured it was just ego and a way to skip the tension meter. Last month a wheelbuilder in Tucson had me close my eyes and pluck a set he just finished, then handed me a Park TM-1 and every single reading was within 5 kgf of the target. Do you trust your ears over a gauge on your own builds, or is that just asking for trouble?
