Spent 6 hours chasing a ghost shift, turns out my torque wrench was lying

Been building wheels for about 4 years now. Last Tuesday I kept getting this intermittent skip in a new hub, thought it was the pawls or the cassette body. Pulled it apart three times, cleaned everything, re-greased, still skipping. Finally grabbed another torque wrench off the bench on a hunch and sure enough, the old one was reading about 12 Nm low on the lower end. Redid the lockring and freehub preload with the good wrench, problem gone. Checked the old wrench against a beam type and it was way off across the whole range. I guess I never thought to verify it because it was the one I used since I started. Anyone else had a tool that slowly drifted and made you chase your tail for a whole day?
