PSA: Check your quench tank before you lose a blade like I did on Tuesday
Dropped a 1084 hunter in the oil on Tuesday and heard a pop instead of a sizzle, turned out my thermometer was 80 degrees off and the steel came out with a crack running halfway up the edge. Has anyone else had a thermometer drift on them, and do you trust the dial or just use a temp stick?

Stuff like this is why I double check everything now, learned that the hard way with my car's oil gauge reading fine while the engine was bone dry. Gauges just drift over time and nobody notices til something breaks. Temp stick all the way, cheap insurance.
