Am I the only one who went from pairing hot pink with black to hot pink with forest green?
Three years ago I put hot pink next to black on a flyer for a bike swap in Portland and thought it looked so sharp. Showed it to my buddy who runs a screen shop and he said it looked like a candy wrapper from a gas station. Ouch. Last month I tried hot pink with a deep forest green on a poster for the same swap and people actually stopped to look at it. The pink pops way harder when green is sitting next to it. Something about the green being close in darkness to the pink makes it hum. I don't get the science but I trust my eyes now.
So what's the weirdest combo that beat the obvious safe choice for you? Bonus points if it sounded terrible in your head first.
