DAE get completely derailed by a book with no chapter numbers when you're the one hosting book club?
So I picked the book for our February meeting at my place in Akron and it looked perfect. Short, 190 pages, big award sticker. What I did not notice until I sat down to build discussion questions was that it has zero chapter numbers. It just breaks into these little unmarked sections with blank space between them. Someone asks what part we're on and I have to say 'the part after the one about the dead dog' because there is nothing to point to. Two people showed up with different page counts because their editions differ, so page numbers were useless too. I wound up reading the whole thing twice just to build a map of it, took me 6 hours across 3 nights. Hosting should not be a second job. How do you all handle picking club books when half the group reads digital and the other half has thrift store copies with different pagination?
