Found out the old hide glue is actually better for reversible repairs and it bugs me

Tbh I read it in a 1920s trade manual from the Internet Archive that my mentor left on his bench, and now I'm stuck wondering if 40 years of PVA in my shop was just convenience over craft, anyone else feel weird about switching back?
