My copy of Moby Dick got rebound in 2019 and the paper aged way worse than the 1980s cloth one next to it
I sent two beat up paperbacks to a rebinder in Portland back in 2019, same grain direction, same PVA, and now the newer one has yellowed edges while the old cloth one still looks fine. The only real difference was the paper, one was a cheap acid heavy novel from 2005 and the other was a 1982 trade edition. So now I'm stuck on whether to keep rebinding thrift store paperbacks at all or just save up for better stock. Do you all check paper quality before you take a rebind job, or just fix whatever the customer hands you?
