Appreciation post: my 4-year-old monstera taught me more about roots than any textbook did
I knocked my monstera off the windowsill in my Austin apartment around 2am and the pot cracked, so I had to bare-root the whole thing to check the damage. Seeing those thick aerial roots wrapped around the inside of the pot made me get why they climb instead of just sitting in soil. I ended up repotting it in a clear orchid pot just so I could keep watching what the roots do. Does anyone else keep plants in clear pots just to spy on root growth?
