Everyone told me to mist my peace lily daily, but it almost killed the plant
I followed the common advice to mist for humidity, but my peace lily started getting black spots on its leaves. At first, I misted more, thinking it needed extra moisture, but the spots spread. I did some quick research and found out that misting can cause fungal issues in still air. I stopped misting and put the pot on a tray with wet pebbles instead. Now the plant is healthy, and I think we overcomplicate simple care sometimes.

Seriously, this applies to so many other houseplants with all the bad advice floating around.

Ugh... it's why so many 'easy' plants die early.

Yeah I saw a plant blog say moisture sitting on the leaves is the real problem. It said to only mist if you have a fan moving the air around, otherwise the water just sits there and rots the leaves. Your pebble tray idea is way smarter for steady humidity without the wet leaves.
