My $40 humidity dome investment paid off in two weeks
I grow a lot of tropical ferns from spore and always lost half the trays to dry air. Last month I finally bought a proper humidity dome kit with a vented lid and a little thermometer slot for $40 at a local nursery in Tampa. I set up my cinnamon fern and maidenhair spore trays under it and checked every day. The moisture stayed steady, no more crusty soil on top, and the ferns germinated WAY faster than my old plastic wrap setup. The dome even caught condensation that dripped back onto the trays, which felt like a free watering system. I did have to wipe mold off the lid twice, but that was an easy fix with a vinegar spray. Has anyone else found a cheap humidity fix that beats the fancy grow tents?
