My slow cooker gave out halfway through a big batch of chili last night
I was trying to make a double recipe to freeze, and it just stopped heating after about 2 hours. I had to quickly transfer everything to a big pot on the stove to finish cooking. Has anyone had a slow cooker die on them, and what's a good budget brand that lasts?

You said you had to transfer it to finish cooking, but that chili was already safe to eat after 2 hours on high.

Actually, @eric_morgan59, the real risk is the lid being off. Every time you check it, you lose a ton of heat and reset the cooking time. That transfer probably made it take way longer.

Yeah but I read somewhere that slow cookers don't always heat evenly, so maybe that's why? Better safe than sorry, right?
