I finally stopped hitting the grocery store 4 times a week and my food bill dropped $210 a month
About 4 months ago I started writing down every single trip to the store, even the quick ones for milk or a lemon. My total for that first month came out to $610 for two people in Rochester, which honestly shocked me. The kicker was that we were going to Wegmans 3 or 4 times a week because we never planned meals, so each trip was $25 or $30 of random stuff. I switched to one big trip on Sunday with a written list and one short stop on Wednesday for fresh stuff only. After two months the total went down to $400 and stayed there. The weird part is we eat better now because I actually use what I buy instead of letting it rot in the drawer. Has anyone handled the Wednesday top up trip without letting it turn into a full cart situation?
