My sister saw my journal at Thanksgiving and asked why I write to-do lists that I never check off
So my sister was visiting from Portland over Thanksgiving and she picked up my bujo off the coffee table while I was in the kitchen. She flipped through maybe 20 pages and goes, "Why do you keep writing all these lists if half of them don't have checks next to them?" I got weirdly defensive about it, which surprised me. I've been doing this for almost 2 years and yeah, probably 40 percent of my dailies never get marked done, I just migrate them forward week after week like a clown. But sitting with her question, I realized the lists aren't really about finishing things, they're how I think. If I don't write down "call the dentist" and "look up that movie" and "email Maria about Saturday," my brain just holds all of it and I can't sleep. She uses the notes app on her phone and thinks paper is a waste of time. I still disagree, but her question stuck with me more than I want to admit. How do you all deal with unchecked tasks that just keep rolling to the next page? Do you migrate them forever or eventually just let them go?
