Vent: a guy at Micro Center called my keyboard build "mush city" and I'm still not over it
I brought my first custom board to a meetup at the Micro Center in Cambridge last Saturday, real proud of my lubed linears and all, and this guy taps two keys and just goes "mush city, my dude." He pulled out a switch tester with 4 different spring weights and had me push each one, and I could actually feel the difference in the bottom out. Went home, ordered 3 packs of heavier springs that night, and now my board clicks like it means it. Has anyone else gotten roasted at a meetup and secretly agreed with the roast?
Man, I gotta disagree with you here. That guy was being a jerk about it, but he also did you a solid, and you're giving him credit like he earned it. He didn't teach you anything, he just told you your board felt bad and then handed you a tester so you'd feel dumb. You already knew what heavy springs were, you just hadn't tried them side by side. The real reason your board feels better now is you went home and did the work, not because some rando at Micro Center tapped two keys. Next time somebody roasts your build, shrug and ask what they're running instead of letting it get in your head.
