Picked the mushy rubber dome over the loud mechanical one for my cab radio and I kind of regret it
Serious question for you folks, have you ever picked the quieter button over the better sounding one and felt it later? I drive a rig and my dash radio had two replacement faceplates at the truck stop outside Barstow, one with these soft rubber dome keys and one with a real clicky set that honestly felt great under my thumb. I went with the rubber one since I spend 11 hours a day in that seat and figured a loud clack every time I change stations would get old fast. Two weeks in and the rubber keys just feel dead, like pressing a wet sponge, no feedback at all so I keep looking down to make sure the button actually did something. The clicky one was probably the smarter buy, your mileage may vary depending on how you handle noise on long hauls. I'm not swapping it out again but I keep thinking about that little satisfying snap I passed up at the counter. Has anyone here gone back and re-bought the louder option after living with the quiet one for a while?
