I had to choose between a miter saw station and a dedicated table saw outfeed table for my small shop
My garage shop is only 12 by 15 feet, so space is tight. I was building a kitchen for a client in Tacoma and needed to decide on one big fixture. I picked the outfeed table because I do a lot of long rips on sheet goods. It worked out great, the table made those cuts way safer and easier. Anyone with a small shop ever face a similar choice and what did you pick?

Good call on the outfeed table. That's the smart move in a tight space. Long sheet goods are just a nightmare without proper support. A miter station is nice, but you can always build a simple bench-top jig for crosscuts. Safety with those big panels is non-negotiable. You made the right choice for actual workflow over a single-task tool.

Actually, a bench-top jig for crosscuts on long sheet goods is still pretty sketchy. The real issue is the weight and balance, not just the cut. Even with a good jig, you're fighting to keep a 4x8 sheet from tipping the whole setup. A couple of roller stands are a safer, cheap fix for that specific problem.
