Just tried a new way to clamp miter joints and it's a game changer

I saw a tip online about using masking tape to hold corners together while the glue dries. It worked great for the trim on a bookshelf I'm building, and I'll definitely use it again.

That tape trick is genius, but it won't fix warped wood if your pieces aren't flat already.

Used to believe tape could solve anything, but you're right @amy_reed79. Learned the hard way it just hides the problem if the wood isn't flat first.

Yeah, it's such a trap. You get that quick win with the tape and feel like a genius, but then a week later the whole thing is pulling apart. It really only works as a last little helper after you've done the hard work of getting everything flat and square. Otherwise you're just putting a band-aid on a broken bone.
