Picked a festool domino over a biscuit joiner for a big job last month, and I'm still not sure it was worth it

I had to do about 40 cabinet doors for a kitchen remodel outside of Richmond, and I was going back and forth between the domino and a biscuit joiner. The domino cost me around a grand after the cutter set, and the biscuit joiner was like $150. I went with the domino because everyone online said it was way better for alignment. But honestly, I spent like an extra 2 hours just figuring out the plunge depth and making test cuts on scrap. The joints came out super tight, sure, but I could have done the whole thing cheaper and almost as fast with biscuits. Anyone else feel like the domino is overhyped for basic cabinet work?

Funny enough, my buddy built an entire deck with a biscuit joiner and a lot of patience, and those joints held up for like 15 years through some awful Virginia weather. The domino always seems like the shiny new tool everyone swears by, but then you realize half the magic is just knowing your equipment inside and out regardless of what it costs. Sometimes the cheaper tool just needs a little more elbow grease and it'll get you to the same place.

That 15 year Virginia weather test is pretty convincing honestly. I used to think you needed the expensive gear for outdoor stuff but your buddy proved me wrong.
