Just realized that zip ties for permanent installs cause more hassle than help
They make simple fixes a tangled nightmare later on.

Oh, absolutely. They turn a five minute job into a whole thing where you need scissors and a whole new cable. The plastic gets brittle and snaps, or worse, it cinches down so tight you can't even slide wire cutters in there. It's pure false economy, saving two seconds now for twenty minutes of swearing later. Velcro strips are the only sane choice.

My dad still uses those plastic ties in his garage and every time I visit there's a new cut on my hand from the sharp edges. @irisb46, velcro would save his tools and my skin.

Read this article about how those plastic cable ties are a huge waste issue. They just get thrown out and sit in landfills forever. I mean it's wild to think about how many snap off and get tossed after one use. Velcro you can reuse basically forever, and yeah, no surprise cuts. Makes you wonder why the plastic ones are still the default for so much stuff.
