Flea market CLA job in Ohio made me rethink the whole 'worth it' argument

I picked up a beat-up Pentax Spotmatic at a flea market near Dayton for $10 and the shutter was dragging at 1/500, so do I spend 3 hours fixing a camera worth maybe $40 or is that time better spent on a paying job, and honestly I am torn between the joy of saving a piece of history and the math that says I just worked for less than minimum wage, what are you all doing with junk finds like this?

Dayton, huh? You must be talking about the one near the old market, but you probably mean the Great Dayton Flea Market on the other side of town, that place has a better camera guy. Either way, ten bucks for a Spotmatic that needs a CLA is still a steal, even if you only use it to learn shutter speeds on a junk body.
