PSA: My $40 camp pillow was a total game changer for my back

I used to just stuff clothes in a sack for a pillow and my neck was always sore by morning. Last spring, I finally bought a proper inflatable camp pillow for about forty bucks. The first night I used it in the Adirondacks, I slept like a rock and woke up with zero stiffness. It packs down to the size of a soda can, so it's not a space hog at all. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get one. Has anyone else found a small piece of gear that made a huge difference in comfort?

Totally agree on the pillow thing. My old method was a rolled up fleece and it was never right. Bought a cheap foam pad to put under my sleeping bag last year. That thin layer made the ground feel way less hard. It’s not fancy but my hips don’t ache anymore. Best twenty bucks I ever spent on camp comfort.

That foam pad idea is smart... I had the same hip pain thing going on. I tried one of those closed-cell foam sit pads under my hips. It's just a little square but it takes the pressure off that one bony spot. Makes a stupidly big difference for something so thin and cheap.
