Open deck or enclosed after 2000 miles? My XJ made it but I'm split
Just hauled my Jeep Cherokee from Phoenix to Portland, 1430 miles with an open carrier. Zero damage, dust everywhere. Buddy swears enclosed is the only way and paid $700 more for his Tacoma. That extra cash could cover new tires or a hotel night. But if a rock cracked my windshield at mile 400, I'd be screaming the opposite. So is enclosed really protection or just peace of mind for people with nicer cars? Anyone else hit a mileage point where they changed their mind? I'm at 6 cross-country moves now and still flip flopping.
