Open transport vs enclosed, took the cheaper route and got lucky
Had to move a 2011 Subaru Outback from Phoenix to Denver back in March. Every quote I got showed enclosed running about $400 more, so I picked open transport from a broker named Apex. The driver showed up two days late with a beat up trailer, but the car arrived with zero scratches or dents. I checked it over in the bright sun before signing, and honestly the only issue was a layer of road grime that took one trip through the wash. I know enclosed is safer for paint and clear coat, but for a daily driver with 140k miles, saving that cash felt better. Has anyone else rolled the dice on open transport and ended up fine, or did you actually hit a horror story that made you switch?
