I mixed up client names at a company dinner and it backfired
At a formal dinner with key clients, I called the CEO by his assistant's name. He laughed it off, but the tension was clear. Now I make sure to review name tags and seating charts before any event. Don't let a simple slip ruin your professional image.

I also mentally repeat names a few times when first meeting someone.

Wonder if we make too big a deal of remembering names. Honestly, most people forget a name or two and the world keeps turning. Sometimes focusing too hard on the name makes you miss the actual conversation. It feels like one of those tricks that gets more attention than it deserves.

I used to blank on names right after introductions all the time. What helped me was just using the person's name once or twice naturally in the first minute of talking. It sticks better without stressing.
