Crossed 500 square feet of decking in a day and it changed my mind on composite

I always swore by pressure-treated wood for decks, but last week I hit 530 sq ft of composite in one shift with a buddy. The lack of knots and warping really sped things up for me. Has anyone else had their opinion flipped by a good production day?

Did you really think composite would hold up that well on a long day? My buddy Mark tried the same shift and said his knees were actually less sore than with wood. He told me the lack of splinters and constant straightening of warped boards made it a whole different kind of work.

You said "the lack of splinters" and that's actually one place where composite can be tricky. I mean, maybe your buddy's decking was a nicer brand, but the cheaper composite stuff I've seen can still get these little fiberglass-like splinters when it starts to fray at the edges. Not the same as wood splinters sure, but they're annoying and can get stuck in your palm just as bad. Also, the constant straightening of warped boards thing, idk, composite can warp just as much if it's not installed with the right gaps for expansion. It's not all sunshine and rainbows.
