Rotary brush kits are worth the hype, change my mind
I ran my own sweep rig for about 5 years using only rods and bristle heads, figured the rotary kit was just a gimmick for guys with more money than sense. Finally bought the $300 carbon fiber set from a supply house in Columbus after my elbow gave out on a steep 30 degree flue last month. That thing chewed through years of creosote buildup in 20 minutes where I wouldve spent an hour and a half struggling. Anyone else switch over and never look back, or do you still trust the old school rods for certain jobs?

Man, I was the exact same way. Rode with rods for like a decade and swore the rotary stuff was just for guys who wanted to show off their gear. Then I borrowed a buddy's setup on a chimney that had me cussing for two hours with the old bristle head, and the rotary made it look like a joke. It's not even close, especially on those steep runs where you're fighting the rod the whole time. I still keep a couple of rods around for weird angles and tight spots, but the rotary gets pulled out first every single time now.
