Solar co-op quote came back 40% higher than my DIY math

I was pricing out rooftop panels for my place near Tacoma and the numbers just kept climbing. The local installer quoted $22k for an 8kW system, but my own parts list from online suppliers sat around $13k including the microinverters and racking. I get that labor and permits add up, but 9 grand in overhead feels steep for two days of work. The kicker is they wouldn't even share the panel brand until I signed the site survey agreement. Has anyone else hit this wall where the installed price seems disconnected from the hardware cost, or is there a way to negotiate those line items down?
