Hot take: my folder structure collapsed after 3 client handoffs in one week and I almost lost a whole brand kit
So I do freelance brand work and I keep everything in one big project folder per client, right. Well two weeks ago I had three handoffs land on the same Wednesday, and somewhere in the rush I dragged my main "Assets" folder into a subfolder called "old stuff" and then renamed it. Took me two hours the next morning to find the logo files because nothing matched the paths in my notes anymore. I panicked and did the worst thing possible, which was starting a NEW folder called "Assets FINAL" instead of just fixing the mess. Now I have like four versions of the same color swatch PDFs and I genuinely don't know which one the client approved. I sat there at 11pm with a cold coffee just staring at my drive feeling so dumb. I think my real issue is I never set up a naming rule, I just trusted myself to remember things. How do you all keep client files straight when you're juggling more than one at once?
