Naming layers 'final_v2_actuallyfinal' is a group project failure
I dove into a shared Figma file yesterday from a freelancer and counted 14 layers called final, final2, FINAL_really, and one called newfinal. No dates, no logical prefixes, just a pile of guesses that made me rebuild 3 logo versions from scratch to find the correct one. Team members keep saying they'll clean it up later, but later never comes and our client meeting is Friday with a deadline I can't move. We use a naming pattern now where every asset starts with the project code like PRJ-42, followed by the exact purpose, and we prune old versions on Friday afternoons only. Why do people think visual tidiness in the artboard excuses file chaos in the panel? Has anyone else watched a shared file collapse under this exact habit?
