Chose matte laminate over gloss for a client's brochures, regret it 3 weeks in
Had a job for a local farm shop outside Tulsa, 500 brochures for their fall market. They wanted that shiny, sticky feel so the photos of pumpkins would pop. I pushed back twice and said matte would hide fingerprints and look pricier. They finally agreed after I showed them a sample under the store lights. Well, three weeks later the matte finish is showing every little crease where people fold the brochure, and the orange tones look flat, not rich. Gloss would've masked the folding lines better. I saved them $120 going matte, but now I'm thinking about a reprint. Has anyone dealt with matte showing wear way faster than they expected? Would you eat the cost or ask the client to split it?
