Guy at the print shop in Reno told me my dark green was 'basically black with a secret'
I brought in a business card file last Tuesday and the press operator pulled one proof, held it up, and said my dark green was basically black with a secret. I argued for a second, then he flipped through a Pantone book and showed me three greens that all looked the same on my screen but printed totally different. Turns out I had been building that green out of way too much cyan and black, so the press had no room to show any actual green. I rebuilt the file with less black and one more pass at the proof and it finally looked like a leaf instead of a tire. What is your go to mix for a deep forest green that does not go muddy on coated stock?
Wait, he actually said "black with a secret"? That is the funniest way to tell someone their green looks like tar lol. So the black was killing the green the whole time, that makes so much sense now that you say it.
