My proof printer at work was color blind this whole time?

So I kept fighting with these client proofs for a local restaurant menu. The oranges looked dead, every time. I thought it was my files or the paper. Turns out the calibration tool we use was set to a profile for a different printer model, one of the techs swapped it months ago and nobody noticed. The moment I ran the proper profile, the salmon color finally popped like it should. Makes me wonder how many other defaults we just trust without checking. Has anyone else found a wrong setting hiding in plain sight like that?
