Vent: my old press operator in Cleveland asked why I check color under the ceiling light and not the window
I run a small shop out of my garage and I have been fighting muddy greens on my inkjet labels for maybe 4 months now. My old press operator friend from Cleveland stopped by two weeks ago and watched me hold a test print under the shop light and go "yep looks good," then he asked why I never check it next to the window instead. I kind of brushed him off but he pulled out his loupe and a cheap 5000K bulb he keeps in his truck and showed me the same label looked way more yellow in daylight and way greener under my 2700K shop light. I printed the same file 6 times that night under both lights and sure enough the colors only matched in like 2 of them. Now I'm second guessing every proof I've ever sent out from this garage. How are you guys lighting your proof stations without spending a paycheck on a viewing booth?
