Pro tip: spent $12 on a Pantone bridge guide and it saved a $900 reprint
Last month I sent a 500 piece flyer to press with a bright orange that looked fine on my monitor. The proof came back muddy brown and I had no clue why until a press guy at a shop in Dallas asked if I ever checked my spot color against a coated bridge guide. I grabbed the $12 book and turns out my RGB orange was never going to match that Pantone, the numbers were way off. We fixed the file before plates got made and avoided a $900 reprint on the whole run. So what do you all keep on your desk for quick color checks, or do you just trust the RIP preview?
