Pro tip: the print shop owner in Boise caught my CMYK black text before I did
Took a menu redesign to a small shop on State Street in Boise and the owner, Ray, pulled my proof off the press and held it under his desk lamp. He pointed at the black type and said it was four color black, so any tiny misalignment would give it blurry edges. I had built the whole file in RGB and let the export do whatever it wanted, and the rich black setting had snuck in on its own. He fixed it in two minutes by setting the text to 100K only and told me to always check my blacks before sending. Has anyone else had a printer catch something small like that and save a whole run?
