Tricked my CMYK black text into staying sharp with one dumb slider move
Every job I sent to the shop on 5th Street came back with the small black text looking muddy and washed out until last month. I tried switching my body text from rich black to 100% K only, and then set my export to convert to grayscale first, which kept the edges clean on a 500 piece run. My rep at the press said pure K avoids the registration blur when those four plates don't line up perfectly. Is converting to gray first overkill, or do you all just build everything in K from the start?
